Single Aspect-Oriented Platform On Its Way: AspectJ 5 Project @ JDJaspectj and aspectwerkz have agreed to work together as a team to produce a single aspect-oriented programming platform. the two projects will remain separate entities. added joint releases are expected after march when the first collaborative effort, aspectj 5, is expected. creating a smooth migration path for existing aspectwerkz users is a top priority.
with backing from ibm and bea, and support from a large open source community, the swift adoption of aop in enterprise is expected. the combined strengths of the two teams will deliver a more comprehensive technology suite than either team could alone. brining together the projects will enable developers to build on key elements which make the projects distinct.
